Liquid-Free Travel Items To Make Travel Easy

If you have gone through TSA at all over the past decade, you are probably familiar with the 3-1-1 rule. That rule states that travelers can only carry-on liquids that fit into 3oz containers. Additionally, containers must fit in one quart-sized plastic bag. Plus, there is a limit of one plastic bag per traveler.

Not only that, you actually have to remove that plastic bag from your luggage and place it in a bin to go through the scanner.

Why is this required?

According to a USA Today article from June 2018, “On Aug. 10, 2006, authorities in the United Kingdom arrested a group suspected of planning to blow up a large number of airplanes using a sports drink and other chemicals to make an explosive cocktail. In the aftermath, the TSA banned all liquids in carry-on baggage in flights leaving from or coming to the US. After rigorously testing liquids, the TSA implemented the 3-1-1 rule in September 2006.”

This regulation definitely helps to keep us safe, but it is also an undeniable inconvenience of air travel.

Consider Liquid-Free Travel Items

If you want to avoid these regulations altogether the next time you fly but are not a fan of checking luggage (which is not subjected to the 3-1-1 requirements), then consider going liquid-free! While you could also bypass this rule with TSA PreCheck, less liquid is just easier.

In addition to helping you get through security faster, liquid-free travel items eliminate the risk of messy and wardrobe-destroying spills! Plus, they are often eco-friendly and last longer than commercially manufactured items. Some items may also be better for sensitive skin.

A lot of the liquid items you rely on every day come in non-liquid forms. Consider trying out some of the items listed below, and leave that quart-sized plastic bag full of shampoo and perfume at home!

Shampoo doesn’t only have to come in liquid form. This amazing little bar will actually clean your scalp and hair. One bar is equivalent to three bottles of shampoo, so it will even last longer than you are used to.

This liquid-free travel item is super easy to use. The manufacturer’s directions say to simply “Wet the bar and your hair. Swipe the bar several times down your hair from root to tip. Put the bar down and lather shampoo into hair- it will foam! Rinse.”

So the next time your hair needs a wash, put down the bottle and pick up this bar. You will be amazed at how a solid form of shampoo can keep your head feeling clean and refreshed!

If you aren’t a huge fan of washing your hair all the time but still need a way to soak up the excess scalp oil that makes your hair look dirty, consider switching from a traditional aerosol shampoo to this powered dry shampoo from Lush!

The powder contains lemon, grapefruit, and lime oils, which will leave your hair feeling great! To use, simply “massage a little into your scalp and through your hair, then shake or brush out. It blends in completely, even on dark hair, giving it texture and a soft, matte finish.”

Stay fresh and looking your best without water and bulky shampoo bottles.

This toothpaste isn’t actually a paste at all – it’s a powder! This amazing little mixture of mineral clay, sea salt, and pure plant essences can replace the tube of toothpaste you have been storing in a plastic bag every time you fly. It is non-traditional, but still easy to use.

The manufacturer’s directions say to “scoop from the jar with a toothbrush or small utensil, brush one to two minutes, then rinse. For best results use twice daily. Yes, it’s okay to dip your brush directly into the jar! The essential oils in this toothpaste are incredibly antiseptic.”

If you fly with this tub of tooth powder, you won’t have to worry about TSA needing to do a bag check or running out of your travel size items. Plus, your breath can stay as fresh as ever!

If you rely on mouthwash to keep your breath smelling fresh, but don’t want to cart a whole bottle around with you during your travels, then just grab a slim little pack of these Listerine strips and you will be good to go – no liquid required!

These little strips are powerful. In fact, a clinical study has shown that regular use of these breath strips reduces 52% more plaque and 21% more gingivitis than brushing and flossing alone. To use, simply remove one strip and place directly on your tongue. Wait a moment for it to dissolve, and your entire mouth will feel like you have just gargled.

It will keep you feeling clean and smelling fresh without a swish and spit!

Sometimes a swipe of deodorant isn’t enough to make us smell our best. That’s where women turn to perfume and men turn to cologne – both products that traditionally come in a liquid state. Well not anymore!

This stick perfume rolls right on like a deodorant. But don’t overdo it, because this stuff is just as potent as a spritz of a high-end scent. The beeswax and sunflower oil used to turn this scent into solid will also soften and nourish your skin.

If you want to make sure that you smell pleasant during your time away from home, grab this stick instead of your expensive perfume and leave it right in your luggage as you go through security.

Like the perfume stick listed above, this is a solid scent. But it is manufactured for men and comes in a balm rather than a stick. To use, just open the tin and place a small amount of balm on your fingers. You can then rub it into your neck, wrists, or chest, to ensure that you are smelling great even without your favorite spray.

The scent is described as “DISTINCTLY MASCULINE: Our Urban Prince Scent is a refreshing balance of cedar, grapefruit, spices, fir, and lavender essences.” This liquid-free travel item is enticing.

So travel neatly, quickly, and efficiently with these liquid-free travel items. You may never go back to using liquid toiletries ever again!
